YEAR 11-12 SCHOOLNEWS

Year 11 Update
Natalie Garcia
Currently, I'm studying Specialist Maths Units 1 and 2 through CHES (Centre for Higher Education Studies). Based in South Yarra, CHES is a unique hub that caters to students all over Victoria, offering subjects that might not be available at their local schools. It’s a unique environment; although the broader cohort has about 60 students, my day-to-day class consists of just ten.
I was recently appointed Class Captain, a role I’m incredibly excited about. In my application, I was very adamant about how my passion for footy has shaped me. Playing in various teams with diverse groups of people taught me the true meaning of "team culture," and I want to bring that same energy to our class. I want to build a community that is as supportive as it is engaging.
Specialist Maths is undeniably tough, but I’m ready to step up. My goal is to be more than just a titleholder; I want to be a genuine voice for my peers’ concerns and a reliable friend for anyone navigating the challenges of Unit 1 and 2.
Year 12 update
Well done to all the students on a great effort this term and heading into a well-earned break. We have survived “SAC Season”, the part of the term one when, as much as we try to even out the load, the study designs conspire against us in VCE to have everything finishing at once.
Congratulations to the students who today received certificates in recognition to their commitment to their learning through their learning behaviours and attendance. It was pleasing to see that we had a significant number to give out in Year 12 across the board.
I am also pleased to say that the Year 12 jumpers will be at school week 1 of term 2, just in time for the cold weather.
Finally, a few big events next term to look towards – including the GAT for all Year 12 students (and the 11’s studying a Year 12 subject) on Tuesday 16th June and the Year 12 Formal Celebration!
