First Contact

Our Grade 3/4 students recently completed their First Contact Inquiry unit, where they explored the early interactions between First Nations Peoples and European settlers. Throughout the unit, students investigated different perspectives, examined historical sources and reflected on the impact these encounters had on Australia's history.

The unit culminated in a classroom expo, where students proudly showcased their learning to family members and other classes. We were thrilled by the incredible number of families who attended and supported the event. The effort and enthusiasm demonstrated by our students were outstanding, and it was wonderful to see them confidently explain their displays, share their knowledge and answer questions. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the expo such a memorable celebration of learning.

On Wednesday, we visited Melbourne to explore the Polly Woodside and the Immigration Museum. It was an exciting day, taking the train, and then exploring the historical goods carrying ship, and learning about the conditions that sailors encountered in the 1800s.
