From the Office

Public Holiday Monday - A reminder that this coming Monday is the Labour Day Public Holiday and school will be closed.

NAPLAN - Next week NAPLAN will begin for students in Grade 3 and Grade 5. Students will bring home some further NAPLAN information this afternoon. As most of our school families will already know, NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning throughout the school curriculum and allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards.

It is important to remember that NAPLAN is just one aspect of a our school’s assessment and reporting processes and does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student learning. NAPLAN will take place over the next fortnight and we will ensure any students who miss an assessment as they are away, will have an opportunity to complete a catch up assessment. Please catch up with me at school for any further information re: NAPLAN.

Student Learning Catch Ups - Bookings will open this afternoon for our Student Learning Catch Ups which will be held on Tuesday 24th March. Students will bring home more information on how to book these with them this afternoon.

Smile Squad - On the 23rd of March our school will again be visited by the Smile Squad Dental Team. Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program and provides free dental services to students at school during school hours and at local community dental clinics. This includes any general treatment that is needed. I would strongly recommended signing your child up to receive a visit from Smile Squad whilst they are at our school. Please visit this link to provide consent for this service: https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic

School Council Update - Thank you to those parents who popped their hand up to join (or re-join!) our School Council. As our school received the same number of nominations as the number of positions we had vacant, we have not needed to progress to a school council election this year. I am pleased to share that our School Council members moving forward will be: Hayden Collins, Lisa Ashley, Jemma Straub, Jess Chalkley, Jess Lehre, Julian Ashley, Marcus Uren, Sophie Burn and Myself.

Our School Council Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 16th September from 5pm. This is an open meeting and all are welcome to join us.

Mural Painting - We are excited to finally be putting "can to wall" on Tuesday when our mural painting begins! All students will have an opportunity to contribute to this artwork on Tuesday and we look forward to brightening up our outside space.

Working Bee Thank You - A big thank you to the families who were able to join us on Saturday for our Front of School Working Bee. The rain has helped us with our new plants settling in and we are looking forward to seeing this native garden grow and (hopefully!) attract lots of birds and other little critters.
