Join Projects Abroad for a meaningful, practical, and purposeful adventure overseas. Projects Abroad has been running volunteering programs for over 20 years. 

The programs run in the mid-year break as well as summer in destinations such as Fiji, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Peru.

Cetacean Sisters 

Inspiring Future Female Scientists through Cetacean Science

We would like to share with you a unique science workshop series designed especially for female secondary school students to further their understanding of science and knowledge of cetaceans (whales and dolphins).

This series comprises five, two-hour workshops held either in the picturesque Cowes on Phillip Island or in scenic Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula, limited to only 20 students.

The next series of workshops are scheduled for May, August, and October. Details, including specific dates and the cost, as well as bookings can be made online via the Cetacean Sisters page.

2026 Marine Discovery Competition

The University of Tasmania is once again proud to present Year 11 and 12 students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a week as a marine biologist.  This is the Maria Island Marine Biology Experience, and will take place from 20 – 26 April 2026.

This predominately field-based unit consists of 5 days on picturesque Maria Island on the Tasmanian East Coast. The unit is open to 24 students and is designed to engage, challenge, excite and inspire you through a hands-on marine science program.

Exam Exemption Criteria for Victoria Police Applicants

Recent changes have expanded the exam exemption criteria for Victoria Police applicants. Applicants may be exempt from the exam if:

They are currently:

• undertaking a Bachelor of Criminology (or similar) at an Australian, New Zealand or United Kingdom university, and are in their final year of study, or
  • a Victorian Public Service (VPS) employee (VPSG3 or above), or
  • employed by Victoria Police (all classifications and tenures).

In the last five years they have:

• passed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent in Australia, with:
  • an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 65 or above, and
    • a minimum score of 25 in English, or
• completed a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an arts, science, humanities, business or law discipline at an Australian, New Zealand or United Kingdom university, or
• were employed in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) on a full-time basis (this exemption does not apply to ADF Reservists).
