Community Learning Project Presentation Day

On Friday, Peter Torey attended the Community Learning Project Presentation Day at the School for Student Leadership. This term, we have had seven students participating in the term-long project. They have had a wonderful and enriching time, and are excited to return to Eltham High School to share their learnings next term.

As part of their CLP presentation, the students received a pledge of support from the Terang Rotary and local elder Wayne Harradine. This is incredibly exciting for our students and will help them get their project, a centenary mural, off the ground when they return in Term 2.

Thank you to Peter Torey for attending the day on behalf of Eltham High School.

Respectful Relationships

Students in Year 9 participated in a Sexual Relationships workshop delivered by Elephant Ed on Monday 23 March. The session provided students with an opportunity to explore the foundations of respectful relationships, with a strong focus on communication, consent, and personal boundaries.

Through interactive discussions and activities, students were encouraged to think critically about the qualities of healthy relationships and the importance of making informed, responsible decisions. The workshop also reinforced the importance of respecting yourself and others, and helped students better understand what positive, healthy relationships look like.

Student feedback highlighted the positive impact of the session with 97% of students giving the workshop a “thumbs up”. Additionally, 83% of students reported feeling more informed about the topic, whilst others noted that while the content was familiar, it was a valuable reminder.

Eltham High School values the use of trusted community partnerships like Elephant Ed. Bringing in specialist educators allows students to hear important messages from trained experts who work with young people every day. Having external voices help deepen student engagement and support the learning we do in the classroom.

We thank Elephant Ed for delivering an engaging program that helps our students build the knowledge and skills to manage relationships with confidence and respect.
