From The Team
Hello to our wonderful Junior School families!
Can you believe we are already at the end of the second last week of the term? It is hard to believe how quickly this year is flying by!
We have had a jam-packed fortnight filled with lots of learning and fun. We participated in our School Pride Afternoon, where students enjoyed spending time in the garden and working together outdoors. We also had a fantastic day at Melbourne Zoo, exploring a wide variety of animals and insects and making connections to our learning about living things and their habitats.
Throughout the term, students have worked incredibly hard. In Literacy, they have continued developing their reading skills, writing new and expanded sentences and improving their use of punctuation. They have also been learning important social and emotional skills, including how to be a "Friendship Ninja" by showing kindness, cooperation and problem-solving skills with their peers.
We are so proud of the growth, resilience and enthusiasm our students have shown this term. It has been wonderful to see their confidence continue to develop both inside and outside the classroom.
The Junior School team would like to thank all of our families for your ongoing support throughout the term, and we hope you all have a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our wonderful Junior School students back to school on Monday 13th July for another fun-filled term of learning and growth!

What We Are Learning
Wellbeing
During Wellbeing sessions, the students will learn to develop empathy by identifying and understanding other people’s emotions and reflecting on how feelings impact friendships.
Reminders
Dress Up as Your Favourite Code Day
Please refer to the notice sent out on Compass (and hard copy sent home) regarding our fun dress up day next Monday. Parents are warmly invited into their child’s classroom at 3:00pm.
Nightly Reading and Word Practice
Please continue to read with your child each night and record it in their yellow reading log. Foundation students should also practise the focus letters and words in their My Wonderful Words book, while Year 1/2 students should practise a few words from their high-frequency word book.
Try This...
Set yourself a timer of 10 minutes and count how many different 2D shapes you can find around your house. This is a fun game to play with a family member too!
A World of Shapes!
Our Year 1/2 students have been having a wonderful time exploring the world of 2D and 3D shapes! They have become enthusiastic ‘shape investigators’, taking part in hands-on games, exciting challenges and shape hunts around the school. It has been fantastic to see students spotting shapes everywhere they go and using mathematical language to describe and compare what they find.
School Pride Afternoon!
Our F-2 students showed wonderful team work and school spirit during our Pride Afternoon! They practised carefully pulling out weeds, making sure to remove the roots too. One of our favourite gardening rules has been, "If in doubt, don't pull it out!"
F-2 excursion to the Melbourne Zoo!
What an amazing day we had at Melbourne Zoo! There were so many animals to see, from the playful monkeys to the beautiful butterflies, and we loved listening to the fascinating talks about the giraffes and meerkats. The excursion was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about animals and their habitats while making special memories with our friends. A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who joined us and helped make the day such a success!
