Hello Senior School Parents and Carers
There has been plenty of excitement and learning taking place across the Senior School over the last 2 weeks!
Students enjoyed coming together for our Whole School Pride Afternoon, celebrating our school environment and how we all need to care and look after our grounds in order to make it a clean and safe place for everyone.
Our Year 5 students demonstrated wonderful leadership as they welcomed the kindergarten children from Scoresby Village Child Care for a special library session. It was fantastic to see our students sharing their love of reading and helping our youngest visitors feel welcome.
The students have also begun practising their dances in preparation for our upcoming Whole School Production. There is already plenty of excitement building, and we look forward to sharing this special event with families later in the year.
On Wednesday, the Senior School teachers participated in a planning day, working collaboratively to prepare engaging learning programs and experiences for Term 3. We are looking forward to another successful term of learning and growth.
Thank you for your ongoing support!

Pride Afternoon
Last Thursday, SPS held a whole-school Pride Afternoon, where students worked in their year levels to remove weeds and litter from around our school. Everyone helped collect rubbish and tidy different areas, including behind the music room, the front garden, the basketball court, the car park and the kitchen garden.
Thanks to everyone's hard work, our school now looks neater and tidier than ever. While cleaning, students discovered some interesting giant weeds, mushrooms and bugs. Many students enjoyed exploring nature and observing these amazing living things.
By removing rubbish and weeds, we have helped our plants and trees grow and thrive. Without weeds competing for water and nutrients, and without rubbish polluting the environment, our gardens will be healthier and stronger.
Here are some tips for keeping a garden clean and healthy:
- Remove dead leaves regularly.
- Weed your garden once or twice a week.
- Water your plants regularly, but be careful not to overwater them.
- Take care not to stand on plants while gardening.
Check on your plants often to make sure they are healthy and growing well.
A clean and cared-for garden helps create a beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy.

Scoresby Village Kinder Visit
On Friday 12 June, Scoresby Village visited to spend time with the Year 5 students. We began by pairing up with one or two kindergarten children and reading books together. Mrs Rheumer estimated that, altogether, we read around 100 books!
After reading, we headed outside to the junior playground to play with our little buddies. Once we were all tired out, we gathered in the eating area and enjoyed some tasty snacks – a gummy snake and an animal biscuit.
After our delicious treats, we took a short water break with the kindergarten students before it was time to say goodbye. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with our little friends and are already looking forward to their next visit.
