Prayer

Dear Lord,

Eternal God, you blessed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with wisdom to live in this land and care for it. Bless Australia’s First Peoples again today with pride in their languages, stories, and songs. Grant grace to all of us to share culture, faith, and hope together through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

St. Joseph's Award

Our St. Joseph’s Award for "Reliable" will be presented at assembly next, Friday 2nd August.

Perseverance will be the next St. Joseph’s Award for weeks 4, 5, and 6. Teachers will be teaching and supporting students to show qualities of perseverance.

NAIDOC Week

Last week, the whole school participated in various NAIDOC Week activities. On Friday, the school came together for a special ‘Igniting the Fire’ ceremony aimed at continuing the knowledge and wisdom of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The ceremony was led by some of our school's FIRE Carriers. Each class presented messages, stories, and reflections about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

This event was aligned with the NAIDOC Week theme, ‘Keep the fire burning, Blak, Loud, and Proud’. The entire school enthusiastically joined in, making noise and celebrating loudly through music, clap sticks, and rhythmic beats, symbolising the spiritual rhythm of Country, HEARTBEAT.

Reconciliation

We have recently sent home a letter regarding Year 3 students who would like to complete the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

If you wish for your child to receive this sacrament, kindly fill out the Google Form provided. The form can be accessed here: Enrolment Form.  Please ensure submission by Friday 9th August, 2024.

A parent evening on Monday 5th August at 5pm will be held in the staffroom. This evening will provide an opportunity to discuss the Sacrament of Reconciliation, learn about the preparation process with your child and ask any questions.

Feast of the Assumption

We invite all family and friends to attend our next whole school Mass on Thursday 15th August, for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Attached is a roster indicating the days each class will be attending.

Our Lady of Fatima statue visit.

On 13th October, the Bendigo Apostolate of Fatima is celebrating the 50th Annual Marian Festival at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. This is a gathering to pray for the Intercessions of Our Lady of Fatima for peace in the world and entrust ourselves, our families, and our nation to her protection. Leading up to the Festival, the Fatima Statue is visiting parishes in the diocese. This statue is from Portugal and bears the relics of the site of the Apparitions in its base. Our Lady of Fatima statue will be visiting St. Joseph’s Church Cobram from Monday 29 July to Monday 5 August. The Rosary is prayed in the church at 2pm each day during this time.
