Year 5

Year 5
Australian History
This term, our Year 5 students have been exploring Australian history through an integrated unit on the Gold Rush and the novel Tom Appleby, Convict Boy by Jackie French. Through this engaging study, students have examined life in colonial Australia, learning about the experiences of convicts, migrants and miners during the Gold Rush era. Using the novel as a lens, they have developed empathy and historical understanding by analysing characters’ challenges and choices. Year 5 are also investigating how the Gold Rush shaped Australia’s social and economic development including immigration, laws and the Eureka Stockade.
Senior School Sport
Our Year 5 and 6 students have been enthusiastically preparing for the upcoming Summer Lightning Premiership, developing their skills, teamwork and game strategies across softball, tennis, lawn bowls, cricket and volleyball. Throughout training sessions, students have focused on refining fundamental techniques and strengthening communication on the field and court. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they support one another, demonstrate sportsmanship and apply feedback to improve their performance.
