Hello families,

It's that time of the year again with Book Week next week and to celebrate, Ballan PS will be hosting a Grandparents, Special Friends and Families Day on Thursday 27th August. On this day, students can come dressed as their favourite book character. Our families, grandparents and special friends are invited to come along and join in the fun!
At 9:15am, there will be a whole school parade in the gym to see everyone's costumes followed by fun Book Week activities back in the classrooms from 10:00 - 10:45am.
At 10:45am, families/grown ups are invited to join our leadership team and available staff members for a morning tea from our canteen.
We’re looking forward to another wonderful Book Week celebration at our school, filled with a love of books, reading and imagination!
Last Monday 10th August, I had the pleasure alongside a number of our grade 5 and 6 students and staff who travelled to Selkirk Stadium in Ballarat for District Basketball. Congratulations to all students who attended and represented our school.
Our boys’ basketball team performed exceptionally well on the court, competing in five games and securing four impressive victories, with just one loss. Our girls’ basketball team had a fantastic learning experience, competing in four games and finishing with two wins and two losses. Both teams showed great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the games and displayed our school values. For many of our students, this was a new experience, and it was wonderful to see their confidence and understanding of the game of basketball grow throughout the day.
A particular thanks to Mr Dykman and Mr Joel for attending to support and coach our teams, our fantastic parent community for arranging travel to and from the venue and supporting our students on the day and of course to Mrs Hunter for her ongoing efforts in arranging sporting events for our students. A special thank you to former student, Cruze Miller, who volunteered his time to umpire games throughout the day on behalf of our school. His contribution was very much appreciated.

Scholastic Book Club is a service offered to students, parents, and teachers. Brochures advertising a variety of books and computer software are sent home with each student, approximately twice a term.
Purchase of the books is not compulsory and there is no obligation. If you do wish to purchase any goods, simply log into the Book Club site www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP and follow the prompts. All Book Club orders must be ordered and paid for via LOOP. Do not send order forms and cash to school. When the order arrives at school, books are sent home with students.
The School earns “Bonus Points” for each order which can be used to purchase new resources for classroom libraries.
Click here for the Scholastic Book Club Parent Log in page or to register for new users.
You can have a look at the online catalogue here: https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/issue-preview/.
