First Nations Students

La Trobe University representative Jake Sanders visited our school on Tuesday 12th May to yarn with our First Nations students about the wide range of supports available through the university’s Indigenous Support Services program.

Jake shared valuable information about the Indigenous Pathways Program, which helps create accessible pathways into further education and employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. He also spoke about the RISE La Trobe Camp, giving students insight into university life, leadership opportunities, and ways to build confidence and connections with other young First Nations people.

Students were highly engaged throughout the session and appreciated hearing how Indigenous students are supported throughout their entire university journey — academically, socially, culturally, and personally. We would like to thank Jake for taking the time to visit and provide such encouraging and meaningful opportunities for our students.
