The Music Room has been filled with wonderful musical experiences this term. Students have enjoyed a variety of class concerts where they have had the opportunity to perform for their classmates and share the instruments they are learning. These performances have been a fantastic way for students to build confidence, develop their presentation skills, and celebrate their musical achievements.
Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have been exploring autumn songs through singing, movement and music-making. They have enjoyed transferring these songs onto percussion and tuned instruments, including glockenspiels and xylophones, while developing their rhythm and ensemble skills.
In Years 3, 4 and 5, students have been learning about National Reconciliation Week. They responded to the music of Gurrumul Yunupingu, through listening, discussion and drawing, reflecting on the stories, culture and emotions expressed through his music.
If your child would like to share a musical performance, composition or achievement with their class, please let me know. I would love to celebrate their musical journey.

Foundation
Our Foundation students have been exploring the iconic world of Yayoi Kusama, drawing inspiration from her bold, repetitive dot motifs to create their very own polka-dot pumpkin artworks.
Years 1/2
The Year 1/2 have made wonderful progress on their onomatopoeia artworks, bringing words to life through sound and image. Alongside this, students have been creating stunning bug prints complemented by vibrant watercolour backgrounds — a celebration of the unexpected beauty found in the insect world.
Years 3/4
The Year 3/4 students are well and truly in the swing of their textile unit! They have been diligently mastering the backstitch and are almost ready to take the exciting next step: learning the whip stitch so they can sew their very own ugly dolls together. The concentration and care on show has been wonderful to see.
Years 5/6
The Year 5/6 students have been channeling their inner Andy Warhol! Inspired by his vibrant celebrity pop art, they are using their own portraits and acetate to create striking compositions that play with the contrast between warm and cool colours. The results are bold, colourful, and full of personality.
