Our girls Hot Shots Tennis team of Tiara J, Anvi D, Holly M, Liah I, Ellee K, Nicola Z, Sammy P, Gina K, Layla Y and Evie H, what have qualified for the SSV State Hot Shots Tennis Championships on Tuesday 26 November.
Our girls went undefeated in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals that due to a rain delay, took two days to complete. On day one we defeated Belgrave Heights 12 – 0 and Rangeview 10-2. On day 2 we defeated Serpell 7-5 and Mount View 8-4.
The State finals will be played at the prestigious Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Glenferrie, which the girls are very excited about.
These girls become the first team to make it to a state level since our Girls Volleyball team from 2022, and the first tennis team to make it to state in the history of our school (by my records).
Another fun fact is that 6 of the girls happened to be in the team in 2023 as Year 5 students and finished Runner Up at Division, meaning our Year 5/6 girls Tennis team has won 26 of its last 28 matches across the last 2 years, and currently on a 16-match winning streak this year.
This group of girls have been an absolute delight to teach/coach, with their sportsmanship, integrity, and genuine care and kindness for one another a real highlight.
Well done girls, you should all be very proud.
