Auslan – ANZAC Day

Students explored and commemorated ANZAC Day in Auslan this week. They shared personal stories about their families’ connections to war and experiences attending ANZAC services, helping to build meaningful connections to this important day. We also learned about the contributions of Deaf people during wartime. Although Deaf people were not permitted to serve on the front line, many were still determined to support their country. They played an important role working in ammunition factories, testing weapons before they were sent to soldiers—demonstrating resilience, commitment, and a strong sense of service. Students learned ANZAC related vocabulary, enjoyed a bilingual story about ANZAC Day, and practised signing “Lest We Forget.”
