Middle School Update - Transitioning Through

One of the primary roles of the Middle School is to support students as they transition through towards their VCE - Senior School Years. Years 9 and 10 are vital for embedding the skills required for Senior School success. This includes organisation, effective use of class time, proactive communication, and disciplined study habits. Developing these competencies takes time, repetition, and practice.
Middle school is also a period where decisions about personal pathway decisions begin to be made. Through our MEX and MFMP programs, students work closely with teachers on career action plans, exploring interests with the understanding that it is perfectly fine for their goals to evolve and change.
While this is an exciting time for many, it can also feel overwhelming. Mordialloc College is fortunate to have an experienced support team to guide and support students and families:
- Sue Linstrom (Mental Health Practitioner)
- Julie Pretty (Inclusion)
- Moira Phillips and Ranjani Raj (Careers Practitioner)
2027 Course Selection Planning Begins this Term!
Information regarding the upcoming Course Selection Evening, VCE Acceleration, and selection deadlines will be shared shortly. Year Level Coordinators will share information with students during year level assemblies, and details will be posted via Google Classroom and Compass. I encourage families to review these materials carefully with their children and reach out to the relevant staff for further guidance.
School for Student Leadership – Congratulations!
The School for Student Leadership is a Department of Education initiative that builds leadership skills through a term-long residential camp and a subsequent school-based project. Mordialloc College is proud to have been awarded four places for Year 9 students in 2026.
The selection panel was deeply impressed by the quality of the written applications and interviews. On behalf of the College, I congratulate the following students and wish them the best for their camp experience this term:
- Mimi M, Ruilin Z, Charlotte J, and Alex F.
Year 10 Work Experience

Thank you to Mr Smith, Ms Nickou, Ms Phillips, Ms Raj, and the Year 10 Connect teachers for their coordination of this program. We look forward to hearing about the students’ experiences upon their return.
