Welcome & Important Dates

Welcome to Term 2
We hope you all enjoyed a restful break and had the chance to spend some quality time together. It has been lovely welcoming our learners back, and we are really looking forward to the term ahead.
Term 2 is always a busy and exciting time, with many opportunities for our learners to connect, reflect, and grow. Throughout the term, we will have several important events, including Curriculum Days, School Photos, the Maths Olympiad and Games, the Stand-Up Project Parent Information Session, and our Student-Led Conferences. We will also observe the King’s Birthday public holiday, allowing time for a well earned break before concluding the term.
In the classroom, our learning will continue to build in depth and complexity. In English, we will be exploring a new class text as part of our Literacy and Literature focus. Learners will continue to develop their comprehension skills, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their written expressions. In Mathematics, we will be working through key concepts while also encouraging learners to apply their thinking in different ways, particularly through problem solving opportunities such as the Maths Olympiad and Games.
Our Inquiry unit this term will include an excursion to support and enrich learning, helping learners make strong real-world connections. Learners will also continue to take part in TRP sessions, focusing on wellbeing, resilience, and building positive relationships. Alongside this, we will continue our Cyber Safety learning to support learners in making safe and responsible choices online.
We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the term and supporting each learner as they continue to grow in confidence and independence.

Mrs Rebecca Prideaux
Dear Parents,
I am pleased to be teaching 5E from Term 2 onwards.
This is my 9th year teaching, and my experience includes teaching in Regional Victoria at Eildon Primary School, Casual Relief Teaching, and now, Glen Waverley Primary School!
As a teacher, I value each individual child, with their unique interests, personality, and learning needs. I am really encouraged by the academic and wellbeing opportunities given to students at GWPS.
I have enjoyed getting to know this wonderful school during the first term and have had the opportunity to teach in 5A and 5E, as well as getting to know the kids while on camp.
It has been lovely to meet some of you already and I look forward to meeting you all and working alongside you to support your child's education.
Kindly,
Becky Prideaux.
