100 Days of Prep

What a wonderful milestone our Prep students have reached — 100 Days of School! It is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown, and yet when we look at how far our youngest learners have come, it is clear that every one of those days has counted. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our Prep students and the way they have embraced school life with enthusiasm, resilience, and joy. The speed at which they have settled into our school community has been remarkable — they have taken to our routines, our values, and each other with such confidence and warmth. Most impressive of all is the quality of their learning. The progress they have made across literacy, numeracy, and beyond is truly exemplary, and is a testament to both their hard work and the dedication of their wonderful teachers. Here's to the next 100 days and beyond!

School Review

We are currently in the process of our School Review, an important opportunity to reflect on our work and plan for the future. Preliminary meetings have taken place to examine our data sets and evaluate the significant work undertaken over the last four years. The key findings highlight continued high achievement and growth across literacy and numeracy, high teacher efficacy, and consistency in lesson delivery — results that paint a clear picture of the strength of our curriculum planning and delivery across the school.

We also engaged an independent and highly regarded educational consultant, Phil Colcoa, to conduct classroom observations and meet with staff in focus groups. Phil served as our peer reviewer during our previous review cycle and had a sound understanding of the direction our school was heading. After his first session of observations, his words spoke for themselves: "Wow, the team was able to take the strategic vision set four years ago and implement it so rapidly in such a short time." He went on to commend the high levels of consistency across classrooms, the quality of lesson delivery, student engagement, behaviour routines, and the teachers' ability to understand their students and provide timely feedback. His parting remark for the day was one we are very proud of: "I am going to be scraping the barrel to identify practice improvements — these will be minor tweaks to already strong practice."

In the coming weeks, our School Improvement Team will meet to draft Goals, Key Improvement Strategies, and targets in preparation for the review. We look forward to sharing more with our community as this process unfolds.

Leaving TPS? Moving House? Moving Overseas? Visa Expiring?

If you have any intentions to unfortunately leave TPS in the next 6 months, please let the school office know. Your decision doesn't need to be confirmed and doesn't mean your child loses their spot if you change your mind, but giving us a heads up is very helpful. This information is vital for the school to budget and plan for staffing in 2027. We don't want any children to be placed in classes that are too big or only have a few students, but this relies on us knowing who will be here. If you suspect you may be moving house, travelling overseas or you know your visa is expiring, please inform the school via email: toorak.ps@education.vic.gov.au at your earliest convenience.
