Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,
What a vibrant and busy time it has been at our school! There is a real sense of energy across the community at the moment from fundraising successes to learning milestones, and plenty of celebrations in between. Thank you, as always, for the way you continue to support our school and each other.
Colour Run Fundraiser
We are absolutely thrilled to share that our Colour Run fundraising efforts have now surpassed $56,000, an incredible achievement that is set to overtake our previous records! This speaks volumes about the generosity and spirit of our community.
We are very much looking forward to tomorrow’s event, which promises to be a fun filled celebration for our students. Thank you to everyone who has contributed whether through donations, encouragement, or helping spread the word.
Onsite Supervision & Child Safety Reminder
A reminder that school supervision begins at 8:45am and concludes at 3:45pm. Outside of these times, students should not be onsite unless they are enrolled in Before or After School Care, which is always available to support families.
Upcoming Industrial Action
You may be aware of upcoming industrial action across the sector. We are currently working through what this may look like for our school and will communicate clearly with families as soon as details are confirmed. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this.
Our Commitment to Anti-Racism
At our school, we are proud of the diversity within our community and remain committed to being a place where everyone feels safe, respected and valued. We do not tolerate racism in any form.
We encourage ongoing conversations at home about kindness, inclusion and respect for all cultures and backgrounds. Together, we can continue to build a community where every child belongs.
Easter Raffle
Our much-loved Easter Raffle is just around the corner! Keep an eye out for more information soon about how to purchase tickets and contribute prizes. This is always a fun event for students.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all families who engaged so positively in our recent Parent Teacher Interviews. These conversations are such an important part of supporting each child’s learning journey, and we appreciate the strong partnership between home and school.
NAPLAN
Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students for the way they approached this year’s NAPLAN assessments. We had excellent participation rates, and students demonstrated resilience and focus throughout the process. Well done to all involved.
Celebration
A very special congratulations to Mrs Brooker (Miss Ally Duncan) who was married last weekend! We wish her every happiness as she begins this exciting new chapter.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to seeing many of you at the Colour Run tomorrow!
Warm regards,
Nadine Pye on behalf of the Derinya Community
