Principal's Report

Dear Families,

We've had a busy week this week. We had 11 students compete at the District Sports on Monday and we are very proud of their efforts. The Book Fair has been running all week. It has been lovely to see the interest in the books from the kids. The last day will be next Tuesday. We had our first Kinder transition today. Tomorrow, Goulburn House will receive their award for winning the house point tally this round. The students were asked about the reward they would like to receive. We chose six of the most popular and had a vote. The result was to spend the last hour block having free ipad/computer time + lollies. The tally for house points has now been reset and the winning house in 4 weeks time will receive their reward. Individual points are not reset.

SHEPPARTON SHOW

TRANSITION

Today was the first transition session for the 2027 Foundation Class. Miss Price was very impressed with their confidence and they way they listened to instructions. Today they read the story "Wombat goes to School", sang some songs as well as completed a cut, paste and colour activity about the things we need for school.

GREATER SHEPPARTON CITY COUNCIL STORY WRITING COMPETITION

Every year, our school participates in the Year 5 and 6 story writing competition. This is the 13th year of the competition. There were over 30 finalist entries from 12 different primary schools across Greater Shepparton.

This year’s independent judging panel consisted of experts in both early childhood development and childhood literacy.

The winning entry for the 2026 competition is ‘The Pony and the Peacocks’ Written and Illustrated by Olivia Akers from Goulburn Valley Grammar School.

Olivia’s story will now be professionally printed and included in the 3.5 year book bag for 12 months. The book bags are handed out by Maternal and Child Health Nurses to children attending their key age and stage visits.

A copy of the book will also be sent to all primary schools. All students who submitted an entry to the judging panel will receive a certificate and any original copies submitted will be returned to primary schools shortly.

The Shepparton Library will have on display all 30+ entries in the coming weeks so keep a look out for these.

This year there are also three honourable mentions:

‘The Teeny Tiny Team’ by Mark Girgis and Liam Geerling from Shepparton Christian College

  • ‘10 Tiny Turtles’ by Savannah Lang & Arkadia Sammut from Toolamba Primary School
  • ‘The Road Trip’ by Jordan Cadmore & Matthew Leslie from Toolamba Primary School
