Faith and Mission

As our Year 12 students prepare to graduate, we recognise that they stand at an important threshold between the familiar world of school and the opportunities and responsibilities of adult life. Their years at John XXIII College have shaped them through learning, friendship, challenge and growth, helping them become the young people they are today.
This milestone also invites us to reflect on the qualities we wish our graduates to carry with them into the future. Within the Jesuit tradition, the vision of the Grad at Graduation describes five characteristics that remain as relevant today as when they were first articulated: to be open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice.
These qualities reflect our aspirations for our graduates. We hope they continue to embrace new challenges with courage and humility, use their knowledge and talents in service of others, remain grounded in faith and hope, build relationships marked by kindness and respect, and work for a more just and compassionate world.
As a College community, we give thanks for the gifts and contributions of the Class of 2026 and for the families, teachers and friends who have accompanied them along the way. We trust that their time at John XXIII College has instilled in them something of the spirit of our founders: Pope John XXIII's belief in hope and openness to the world, Mary Ward's gift for building strong friendships and welcoming others into a circle of belonging, and Ignatius of Loyola's call to find God in all things and live a life of purposeful service. Inspired by these founders, may our graduates continue to grow in faith, seek wisdom, build loving relationships and work for justice, becoming women and men for others who make a positive difference in the world.
