Konnichiwa!
We are currently seeking host families to welcome 20 students from Kochi Kokusai School, who will be visiting from approximately 25 July to 6 August — and we would love your support in making this exciting cultural exchange possible!
Please don’t worry if life feels busy. Our visiting students are hoping to experience everyday Australian life just as it is — whether that’s cheering on sport from the sidelines, joining in with family routines, spending time with pets, or simply relaxing at home.
Hosting is a wonderful opportunity to build connections, share cultures, and create memories that can last a lifetime for both your family and the students.
If you are interested in hosting or would like more information, please contact Lara Wojcik
Academic Integrity and the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Friends’ celebrates the intrinsic good in all. We respect our young people as learners with original ideas and value and encourage ongoing growth and reflection. Increasingly, some students are using generative artificial intelligence (genAI) to generate or support their school work. Although this is sometimes acceptable or even encouraged, where original student work is required, the use of genAI may constitute a breach of academic integrity.
Senior School courses now have a cover sheet for any assessment tasks completed outside of class. This sheet clearly indicates acceptable use of genAI for that task.
Students must:
- Complete their draft process in a Google doc shared with their teacher
- Complete a statement of genAI use as part of their assessment task
Reference any genAI tools used
We encourage parents to discuss the use of genAI with their children and to support the school’s commitment to celebrating authentic, original student work. All students have access to a bespoke Academic Integrity module based on their courses studied. This is a great source of information on what constitutes academic integrity at Friends’. If there is a need for further support or clarification, please contact your child’s teacher, tutor or Kate Baldry, Deputy Head of Senior School - Learning.
