School Sports - What's Happening

SOCCER CARNIVAL
Last Thursday our Grade 5/6 students headed to Epsom/Huntly Reserve for the annual Soccer Carnival, and we were treated to something rare for this time of year — beautiful, sunny conditions.
Holy Rosary entered both a boys team and a girls team in the Division 1 competition, facing much larger schools including Maiden Gully, Spring Gully, Girton, Lightning Reef and White Hills. Despite the size difference, our students played with determination, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day. They should be incredibly proud of the way they represented our school.
Our boys team had a strong showing, winning one match 4–0 against White Hills and securing a draw in another.
Our girls team achieved something truly remarkable — they won the entire girls division and now progress to the next stage of competition in Swan Hill. This is an outstanding achievement, especially considering we had only around four regular competition players in the team. The talent, grit and teamwork on display were exceptional, and we couldn’t be prouder.
A special shout‑out goes to Hamish Gladstone, who coached the girls team on the day. Well done, supercoach.
Congratulations to all our players. We are very proud of you and wish our girls the very best as they take on the next level of competition.
BOYS SOCCER WRITE UP
During school soccer we had a very fun time versing the Catholic schools. The girls came home with a trophy winning the whole tournament, great effort by the girls, sadly the boys only had one win by 4 goals, tied one game and lost three games. We are very appreciated of all the help from the parents umpiring and a huge thanks to Mr Coates and Hamish the girls coach alongside Miss Spence. Even though the boys had a rough time we still enjoyed the day with all our mates. It was a beautiful day at the soccer oval at Epsom and thanks to all the boys team: Charlie, Tom M, Tom O, Zane C, Jacob H, Rayson M, Josh M, Paddy W, Issac B, Will R, Conrad P, Matteo G.

GIRLS SOCCER WRITE UP
What a day the girls soccer team had last Thursday:
Miss Spence and Mr Coates brought the grade 5/6s to the Epsom soccer oval both teams played well in the Sandhurst division 1 school soccer against 5 other schools. The girls brought home a trophy. We won 4 out of the 5 games. The last game we won 3-0 our way. The only game we lost was to White Hills Primary who played well and won by 1 point which was a close game. The girls were thrilled about winning the trophy and now get to go to Swan Hill in August. A special mention to Hamish who coached us through the day we could not had done it without him. Thanks to Miss Spence who was there cheering us on like a soccer Mum and was helping Hamish it was much appreciated. Also, a big thankyou to Mr Coates who organised everything.
The players were: Millie W, Millison G, Leila P, Bailey M, Arlie B, Luciana TE, Ruby R, Evie K, Amy V, Isla P, Harriet M, Addison M, Mila M, Millie H.

HEALTH AND PE WEEK - WEEK 10
Health and PE Week is coming up in the last week of term, and we’re gearing up for a fun and active way to finish to the term. Students are invited to wear their PE uniform each day as they take part in a fantastic range of activities designed to get everyone moving. On Monday and Friday morning we will begin with Outdoor Open Sports Shed Activities led by Mr Coates and our Grade 6 leaders, setting a positive and active tone for the day. Lunchtimes will feature netball games for Grades 3, 4 and 5, all umpired by our Grade 6 students, along with parachute play for junior classes and a special Staff vs Grade 6 netball match to close out the week. Recess activities will include a yoga and Just Dance session, tag games on the oval, and football and netball training for senior students. The week promises something for every student and highlights the importance of movement, teamwork and healthy habits. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to step up as leaders, try new activities and enjoy being active together.
