Principal Report

Welcome to 2026
Welcome to the first Belmore School Newsletter for 2026. Our monthly newsletter is an important means of connecting with our school community – particularly the parents and carers of our students. Please take the time to read the newsletter and take note of the important information or dates included, reflect on the wonderful programs or activities outlined and take pride in the achievements of our students which are highlighted.
Our students were all very happy to return to school, refreshed and ready to learn after their five-week Christmas holiday break. The first days of our school year are spent settling the students into their new classes, supporting them get to know their teachers, assistants and classmates and introducing them into new programs. The therapy team have been extremely supportive of this process, updating all student profiles and ensuring all students have the correct equipment to best assist them in their classrooms and programs.
Welcome to new students and staff
I extend a very warm welcome to our new students and families joining our Belmore School Community in 2026; we are honoured you have selected Belmore for your child to attend. I also officially welcome our new staff members who join our team this year:
Carol Fong - MLC4 Class Teacher and Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader
Steven Firman - Visual Arts Teacher
Shona Williamson - School Nurse
Jake Cosentino - Programs Support ES
We have wonderful staff at Belmore School who are as enthusiastic as I am to ensure that our students have the best programs and learning opportunities we can possibly offer.
Student Support Group Meetings (SSG)
Our class teachers are currently organising and conducting SSG meetings; this year to be held in person or online during week's 5 & 6 (from Monday 2nd until Friday the 13th of March). Developing a united partnership between our teachers, therapists and parents and carers is a priority for Belmore as it enables consistency between home and school and strengthens our support for our students in achieving a successful school year. You can make a booking for SSG meetings on the Sentral platform via the parent portal. Please reach out to reception or through your child's class teacher if you are unable to attend during the times specified or would like some support accessing the bookings.
While parents and carers are encouraged to communicate via your child's Belmore diary, email or phone, please be aware that teachers are always happy to make time to meet with you in person or online if there is an important matter you wish to discuss.
