Girls AFL 9s and Boys Netball

Last week, OOPS had four teams compete in the Girls' AFL 9s and Boys' Netball competitions. These annual events, organised by School Sports Victoria, encourage students to participate in sport and represent their schools.

All of our teams had a fantastic day competing and proudly representing OOPS. For many students, it was their first time playing a new sport, and every team experienced both wins and challenges throughout the day.

A special congratulations goes to our Grade 6 girls' football team, which progressed all the way to the grand final before narrowly missing out in a very close contest.

A huge thank you to the teachers and parents who generously gave up their time to coach, supervise and support our students. Days like these would not be possible without their ongoing support.

Oscar Allen

Congratulations to Oscar in Grade 6, who has once again been selected to represent Victoria in softball at the upcoming School Sports Australia Championships in October.

The tournament will be held in New South Wales, and everyone at OOPS wishes Oscar the very best. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and look forward to hearing about his experience.

Prep–2 Athletics Day

Our first-ever Prep–2 Athletics Day is coming up quickly.

On Friday, 21 August, students in Prep to Grade 2 are encouraged to wear their house colours to school. From 12:20 pm to 2:00 pm, students will participate in a variety of athletics-inspired events designed and run by our Grade 5 and 6 Sports Academy students.

Every event students participate in will earn points for their house and contribute towards the end-of-year House Trophy.

We're looking forward to seeing a sea of house colours and an afternoon full of fun and participation.

AFL Boys EMR Finals

A huge congratulations to our boys AFL team, who this week competed in the EMR Regional Finals.

We are incredibly proud of how far the team progressed throughout the competition. Although the results didn't go our way on the day, the boys should be extremely proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school.

Their success is a reflection of the hard work, determination and teamwork they have shown over the past few months.

A special thank you to Ben and Brendan for generously giving up their time to coach, support and encourage the team throughout the competition.
