R U OK? Day at Djirri Djirri School
On Thursday 10 September, Djirri Djirri School recognised R U OK? Day, a National Day of Action that encourages meaningful conversations and reminds us that asking someone, "Are you OK?" can make a real difference.
R U OK? Day highlights the importance of mental health and wellbeing and encourages us to look out for one another. It helps build a community where everyone feels safe, supported and valued.
To mark the occasion, our Student Engagement Team (SET) organised a range of engaging activities throughout the day. Classes attended at allocated times and participated in activities designed to promote kindness, connection, inclusion and positive wellbeing. Students enjoyed opportunities to work together, share their thoughts, and learn about the importance of checking in with family and friends.
The day provided a wonderful opportunity for our school community to reinforce the message that everyone deserves support and that a simple conversation can make a significant difference. Through fun, interactive activities, students explored ways to support others, build positive relationships, and foster a culture of care and understanding.
We thank the Student Engagement Team for coordinating these meaningful activities and helping to promote a strong sense of belonging across our school.
Remember: A conversation could change a life. Ask, listen, encourage action, and check in. 💛🖤
Hello Djirri Djirri School Community,
My name is Anchi and I am the Mental Health practitioner (MHP) at Djirri Djirri School.
RUOK? Day
This week, our school came together to celebrate R U OK Day. special day that reminds us of the importance of checking in with the people around us and letting them know that they are not alone.
With the wonderful support of our Student Engagement Team (SET), we created a range of fun and engaging activities for our students. It was lovely to see so many students getting involved, connecting with each other. Our students enjoyed making colourful stress balls, exploring emotions through Play Doh, plaiting R U OK ribbons and of course making and enjoying delicious cookies.
A special thank you goes to our Year 11 senior students: Isabelle, Chanelle, Aiden and William M, who helped run the activities. We are so proud of the care and kindness they showed.
R U Okay Day reminds us that sometimes simply checking in, listening, and letting someone know you are there can make a big difference. So, lets continue checking in with your family and friends, be kind, listen and support one another.
