This Week's Gospel - Luke 14:7-14
Be humble - Be Kind!
In this week’s Gospel, Jesus is at a dinner and notices how people are choosing the best seats for themselves. He gently teaches them to choose the humble place instead. That way, if the host invites them to move up, it’s a true honour. Jesus also says that when we invite people to share a meal, we shouldn’t only choose friends or those who can repay us. Instead, we should welcome those who are in need. That kind of kindness is special to God.
This Gospel reminds us that being humble and generous is more important than being first or popular. Let’s look for ways to lift others up and show kindness without expecting anything in return.
🙏
Dear Jesus,
Help us to be humble and kind.
Teach us to welcome others with open hearts,
especially those who need love and care.
Amen
Can you think of someone who might feel left out or lonely?
What could we do this week to include them or show kindness?
Melinda's Pilgrimage to Ireland
It is such a blessing to be able to take part in a pilgrimage during this year of Jubilee. I will going to Ireland for two weeks during the school holidays to be immersed into the encounter of our saviour.
With me, I hope to bring any prayers of hope or healing that you may require for family, friends or yourself as I am more than happy to bring them with me to Ireland. Writing your prayer in a sealed envelope will keep it confidential and then I can leave them in a sacred churches site as I journey around Ireland. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer so please write your prayer and leave your prayer in the box prepared at St John's Church or Primary School.
