Principal's Report

Dear Families,
Welcome Back to Term 2! It’s wonderful to be back, seeing all the children’s faces and speaking to many of you in the yard before and after school, I’m very grateful for the warm welcome. Once again, I’d like to thank Mr Tait, Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Carey for leading the school through this period.
Sausage Sizzle
As you know, this Saturday is election day, and we will be running a sausage sizzle and cake stall school fundraiser here at the school from 9AM until 3PM. A big thank you in advance to those parents and staff who have volunteered to help on the day and/or bake for the cake stall – it is greatly appreciated. Please come along and buy a sausage – better than Bunnings!
Swimming and Division Sports
This week has seen the start of our Foundation and Year 5/6 swimming program at Swim and Survival Academy. It proves to be a busy term on the sport front, as our Year 5/6 students also have Division Soccer, AFL and Netball to look forward to, as well as a number of students from across the school who have qualified for the Division Cross-Country. It really is a great honour to have students representing Ballarat North in these events.
Pupil Free Days
As always, I like our families to have as much notice as possible of Pupil Free Days to enable you to make arrangements for these days. School Council have approved the following days:
- 21st July (First day of Term 3) – Curriculum Day: teachers working and planning with the new Victorian Curriculum
- 30th July – Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences (10am – 6pm)
- 6th October (First day of Term 4) – Maths Professional Learning
- 21st November (yet to be approved**) – Report Writing Day
I’d also like to draw your attention to the Compass post from last week informing you of the upcoming Coffee and Cake opportunity on Monday 12th May. See below for details – we’d love to see you there!
Until I see you in person,
David Garner
