Prep at assembly.....Where Does God Live?
Our Prep students were very excited to share their learning at Assembly on Monday 31st August, with a special presentation exploring the question, “Where does God live?”
Over the past few weeks, the Preps have been wondering, listening, thinking and contributing their ideas about where they believe God lives. As members of God’s family, the students shared many beautiful and thoughtful responses. They wondered whether God lives in our hands, helping us to be kind and gentle each day; in nature, making the world beautiful; in the trees; in our St Luke’s community; in our families and friends; and in our hearts, just to name a few.
It was wonderful to see the Preps share their ideas with such growing confidence in front of our school community, family and friends. We are incredibly proud of the way they spoke, listened to one another and celebrated each other’s ideas.
Physical Education News
On Friday 28th August, 40 students from years 4-6 represented St Luke's at the District Track and Field event at the Bill Stewart Athletics track. They competed in track events including hurdles, relay and from 100m to 1500m races. They also competed in track events such as long jump, discus and shot put. All students did a fantastic job displaying great athleticism, sportsmanship and showcasing St Luke's values. We are proud to announce that 27 of our students came 1st or 2nd in their events and will be progressing to Division Track and Field at the Bill Stewart Athletics Track in week one of term 4 on Wednesday 7th October. The students progressing have received their invites and permission forms have been sent to these families. Well done to all the students who participated at district and good luck to those competing at division next month.
Performing Arts- Year 5/6
The Grade 5/6 students showed great enthusiasm in a Performing Arts lesson a few weeks ago, where they learnt about a painting called "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat. Students picked a moving object (big or small) from the painting, and then improvised movement, recreating the way the object might move if the image came to life. It was great to see their imaginations at play, as they thought outside the box in this activity.
Values in Action – More Than Just Words
(5/6 Ochre)
Our Year 5/6 Ochre students proudly presented ‘Values in Action – More Than Just Words’, an assembly exploring the values of Honesty, Kindness and Respect. As our school community continues to reflect on the values that will guide us into the future, students brought these values to life through short scenes showing what they can look like in everyday situations.
The assembly also connected with our learning in Literacy, as students demonstrated their understanding of hybrid texts by combining narrative and informative elements throughout their performance.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to show that values are more than just words – they are something we can choose to live by every day.
LEARNING EXPO
Thank you to all our families who joined us for our Learning Expo. It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and family members visiting our classrooms and sharing in the excitement of learning with our students.
Our students were incredibly proud to showcase their work, talk about what they have been learning and celebrate their achievements. These opportunities are a wonderful reminder of the importance of the partnership between home and school and the positive impact this has on our students.
A special thank you to our teachers and staff for the time, care and preparation that went into making the Learning Expo such a successful and welcoming afternoon.

ITALIAN POETRY AFTERNOON
On Tuesday afternoon, September 8th we held our inaugural Italian Poetry afternoon and what a lovely afternoon it was!
During this term, the middles and seniors worked on a poetry unit. I was concerned that Italian poetry might not appeal to the students but to my delight they embraced it and we had many enjoyable lessons. As a result of this, the students were challenged to see if they could memorise part of their poem and if so, they would recite them before their parents.
A small group of brave students accepted the challenge and recited their poem of choice confidently. I would like to acknowledge that this was no easy feat. Firstly to memorize a poem and then to recite it in another language! Some students included intonation and voice projection which was very impressive.
A big ‘grazie mille’ to those students and to the parents and grandparents who came along to support our students. Siete stati tutti bravissimi! (You were all wonderful!)
