Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Road Safety

Pickup times at the end of the day continue to be busy on both the main road and in Sutherland Street. At the end of last week I had a report of a near miss involving a car reversing towards students who were stationary on bikes as they were leaving from Bannockburn-Shelford Rd. It’s a timely reminder to carefully check as you’re leaving for any students near or around parked cars, particularly any blind spots or behind you if reversing.   

Parent Caregiver Opinion Survey

A reminder to families that this week is the final opportunity to participate in the  Parent and Caregiver Opinion Survey, and we would encourage families to take the opportunity to provide feedback on their perspective as a parent at Teesdale Primary School.

Middle School Update

Progress on maintenance works in the Middle School are tracking along well. I am always hesitant to give exact deadlines for building projects, but it appears that things are on track for students to return to these spaces in the first week of next term. The students have coped so well with the change and I appreciate the flexibility they and our middle school and specialist teachers have shown in this period of time. If there are any significant updates to this timeline over the holidays we will inform impacted families via email.

Community Fire Safety

Last week, Deb Smith and I represented the school in developing a Community Emergency Management Plan, which was hosted by the Golden Plains shire. At this session there were some excellent resources shared with us that are available as we head into summer to support families being prepared and planned in the event of a fire. I would encourage all of our families to make sure they have made a plan for the summer period, and involved their children in this. Term 4 Calendar

Please make sure you take the time to review the calendar for Term 4 dates. The end of the year is already filling up fast with plenty happening! I particularly wanted to draw your attention to Monday November 2nd which is a pupil free day, and Tuesday November 3rd which is a public holiday for the Melbourne Cup. 

As has become tradition, students will be performing Christmas Carols at the Teesdale Twilight market on Thursday December 10th, our Year 6 graduation will be on Tuesday December 15th, and our final assembly will be on Thursday December 17th from 2:30pm. Friday December 18th will be our final day of school with the chance for classrooms to be tidied and packed down to end the year with a 1:30 dismissal. 

SWAG Award Assembly and Friday Dismissal

To conclude this term our final assembly will be from 2:00pm this Friday as we celebrate our Students With Amazing Growth (or SWAG award winners) and conclude with a 2:30pm dismissal.
