Saint Carlo Acutis  -A Modern Saint for Today’s Children

Feast Day: 12 October

Saint Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) was an ordinary teenager who lived an extraordinary faith. Canonised by Pope Leo XIV on 7 September 2025, Carlo is a wonderful role model for children, showing that holiness is possible at any age. He loved Jesus, cared for others and used his computer skills to share his faith with the world. His life reminds us that we can all make a difference through our everyday choices.

Relatable Everyday Life

  • Ordinary hobbies: Carlo enjoyed playing soccer, video games and spending time with friends, just like many children today.
  • A modern role model: He lived in the 21st century and died aged just 15, showing that we do not need to be adults to live holy lives.
  • Holiness in everyday life: Carlo reminds us that we can become closer to God through prayer, friendship, kindness and the choices we make each day.

Digital Responsibility and Wisdom

  • Balancing screen time: Carlo enjoyed technology but understood the importance of moderation and making time for other activities.
  • Using technology for good: He taught himself computer skills and created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles to help others learn about the Catholic faith. He is often known as the patron saint of the internet.
  • Being original: Carlo encouraged people to be themselves rather than simply follow others. His famous words, “All are born as originals, but many die as photocopies,” remind us to celebrate our God-given gifts and individuality.

Kindness and Compassion

  • Standing up for others: Carlo showed kindness to classmates, including those who were bullied or had disabilities, reminding us to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Caring for the poor: He helped people experiencing homelessness and poverty, sharing what he had with those in need.
  • Joyful friendship: Carlo was a cheerful and caring friend who put his faith into action by loving God and serving others.

Why Was Carlo Made a Saint?

The Catholic Church recognised Carlo as a saint because of his deep faith, love for the Eucharist, devotion to prayer and generous service to others. The Church also recognised two miraculous healings attributed to his intercession, which were approved as part of the process leading to his canonisation.

Saint Carlo Acutis reminds us that we do not need to do extraordinary things to become saints. We can make a difference by following Jesus, using our talents for good, including others and showing love and compassion every day.

Carlo Acutis Official Prayer

Oh God, Our Father,

thank you for giving us Carlo,

a life example for the young

and a message of love for everyone.

You made him become enamoured with

Your Son Jesus, Making of the Eucharist

his “Highway to Heaven”.

You gave him Mary, as a most loving Mother,

and, with the Rosary, you made him

a poet of her tenderness. Receive his prayer for us.

Above all, gaze upon the poor,

whom he loved and helped.

Grant for me too, by his intercession,

the grace that I need . . .

And make our joy fulfilled,

placing Carlo among the Saints

of your Church, so that his smile

may shine again for us in the glory of your name.

Amen

Kind regards,
