Principal's News

Dear Parents & Parishioners,
After many months of preparation by the dedicated members of the organising committee, the OHR Spring Carnival School Fete is now on our doorstep. Our team of committed volunteers has dedicated an inordinate amount of their time into the planning and organisation of this event to ensure that it is a success. However, the success of the event is dependant upon the coordinated set up, which begins tomorrow, the orchestration of the actual Fete on Saturday, and the ensuing pack up and clean up. The OHR Spring Carnival School Fete is an event genuinely designed to bring all members of our school community together.
We are very grateful to our generous sponsors who have supported our Fete this year. Some of our sponsors have supported us financially and through the provision of their products and services
The children are so excited about the Spring Carnival Fete and have literally been counting down the days. This day is such a highlight for them. There is also a great buzz throughout the neighbouring community and I have no doubt that this event will bring in a great number of visitors.
Aside from generating important revenue to support the school, the Fete is proving to be a brilliant form of marketing for OHR. Essentially, our school is on display!
Thank you to everyone who has put up their hand to assist in whatever way. If you have yet to volunteer some time, it is still not too late. On that note, I will leave you with the following story:
A child was having difficulty lifting a heavy stone. He tried and tried but couldn’t budge it.
His father came past and noticed the difficulty he was having.
He asked his son, “Are you using all your strength?”
“Yes, of course I am,” the little boy replied indignantly.
“No, you are not,” his father answered. “I am right here just waiting and you haven’t asked me to help you.”
Everyone has a support group made up of family, friends, workmates and teachers.
That support group is there to help – and many are just waiting to be asked.
Using all your strength means calling on members of your personal support group to help you through the challenges of life.
On our own we can find it hard to lift a stone, with the help of our support group we can move mountains.
Let’s collectively move a mountain this weekend!

Last Sunday's Working Bee
Great weather and a huge number of volunteers ensured that Sunday's Working Bee ticked off many items on the jobs list. By the end of the morning, the school and parish grounds looked amazing and in prime condition to host this Saturday's fete.
A big thank you to Laura for keeping the task list organised and coordinating everything throughout the morning, and a special shout-out to Brodie for keeping the sausages sizzling on the BBQ!
We Value your Input: Masterplan Survey
Here, at Our Holy Redemeer, we have decided to take a fresh look at the school Masterplan and would really value your thoughts. We have a quick questionnaire for you to fill out and would appreciate it if you could spare us a few minutes to provide your feedback. The survey should only take 5-10 minutes to complete and you can do it as a family or, if you wish, each family member can do it separately.
In addition over the coming weeks we will be conducting a number of consultation sessions, which will guide us into the future. We will keep you posted and look forward to all your ideas and comments.'
Please click the following link to start the questionnaire.
Help The Head Honchos Andy & Ollie take a stand against cancer!
During Saturday's fete, at around 2.00pm, two or our senior students, Andy J and Ollie F, will lose their locks to support the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave - a cause that is personally close to their hearts.

Community Conversation
You are warmly invited to attend a Community Conversation at 2.40pm this Monday 26 October. The Community Conversation will be held in the LRC (Library).
During the Community Conversation, we would like to receive feedback on family engagment initiatives offered by the school, while also capturing input for potential future family engagement through both Learning Snapshots and Information Evenings.
Our aim is to partner with, and support parents in, their children's learning journey.
The Community Conversation is designed to conclude at dismissal time.

Food Donation Bin for Christmas
Whitehorse Emergency Relief and Support Inc are a volunteer organisation located at the back of Box Hill Town Hall that provides assistance to people experiencing financial difficulty who live in the City of Whitehorse. Many people in the community experience financial difficulty for a variety of reasons. Homelessness and domestic violence are major issues. Some people are temporarily out of work and need help to get over a hump in their lives. Whitehorse Emergency Relief and Support are not just a hand out organisation. The intention is for people to take active steps to improve their situation and move on so they don't need assistance any more. The organisation helps these people to do this by putting them in touch with various agencies who can help them as well as by providing material aid.
Whitehorse Emergency Relief and Support would be grateful for any assistance our community might be willing to offer. In anticipation they have left one of their donation bins in the foyer leading to our Library.
