Around the Classrooms

In 3/4, we have begun our new Inquiry unit in Physical Science, focusing on exploring what happens when heat transfers from one object to another. Students investigated how heat transfers from our hands to an ice cube when we hold it and also enjoyed experimenting with “butter boats.” They explored which materials act as better insulators to prevent the butter from melting in hot water.

In Maths, we have been exploring fractions. Students have worked on placing equivalent fractions on a number line, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, and identifying and comparing fractions. They especially enjoyed creating fraction posters to showcase their understanding.

May is a special month dedicated to honouring Mary. In Religion, we have been learning about the different ways Catholics honour Mary through prayer, song, feast days, scripture, and reflection. Students also made connections between Mary’s character traits and those of their own mothers. We thank all the mothers, grandmothers, and special women in our lives who joined us for our Mother’s Day morning celebration.

Our Positive Behaviour for Learning lessons have focused on resilience and the emotions we may experience in the classroom and on the playground. Students have explored strategies they can use to help build resilience and respond positively in different situations.

Kind wishes,

Mrs Restaino 3/4R
