Term Overview

What a Wonderful Term 2 We've Had!

Term 2 has been filled with plenty of learning, fun, and memorable experiences for our students.

 

Throughout the term, students have enjoyed a wide range of activities both in and out of the classroom, providing opportunities to learn new skills, work together, and celebrate their achievements.

 

From special events and sporting activities to classroom projects and everyday learning, there has been something for everyone to enjoy. It has been wonderful to see students embracing new challenges, supporting one another, and making the most of the opportunities on offer.

 

Below are just some of the many highlights from Term 2. We hope you enjoy looking back on these special moments as much as we have enjoyed sharing them with our students.

 

Value Awards

Assembly Week 4

Curiosity Award was presented to Jacob H, Jobe N, Benjamin S, Yolanda W, Archer J, Olivia F, and Eddie R for the wonderful way they approach their learning with inquisitiveness and creativity.

 

Endeavour Award went to Jaimen B, Alexis W, April S, Frankie G, Deetya P, Archer M, Ashton Z, Imogen D, Casey O, Aubrey D, and Nola W for their determination, persistence, and commitment to doing their best.

 

Respect Award was awarded to Sylvia R, Elsie D, Hudson S, Aayra D, and Tegan Z for the way they consistently show kindness, care, and respect to others.

Flavour Lab Showcase

Our Year 5/6 students proudly showcased their learning at the Flavour Lab Showcase after spending the term exploring Australia's links with Asia, healthy eating, design, and food investigations. Working collaboratively, students designed their own Asian-inspired restaurants and shared their ideas with families and visitors. It was wonderful to see students confidently presenting their learning and celebrating the creativity and teamwork that made the project such a success.

International Day of Play

A day that recognises every child's right to play and the vital role play has in learning, wellbeing, creativity, inclusion and development.  Our students embraced the opportunity to explore, create and collaborate through unstructured play experiences. From building tents and hammocks, creating swings, cooking imaginative creations in the mud kitchen, and engaging in games and challenges, students demonstrated incredible problem-solving and communication

First Aid in Schools Program

Students have enjoyed taking part in the First Aid in Schools Program delivered by St John Ambulance Australia. Through practical, hands-on sessions, they have been learning valuable first aid skills and how to respond safely in emergency situations. We have loved seeing their enthusiasm as they develop these important life skills.

Sewing for Sustainability

Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed a hands-on sewing session with Sonia, our Library Teacher. As part of a sustainability project, students learned how old school uniforms can be repurposed, developing practical skills while exploring ways to reduce waste and care for the environment.

Growing Great Ideas

Year 5/6 students explored the key elements of a successful kitchen garden before designing and creating their own garden models. It was wonderful to see their creativity, problem-solving skills, and learning come to life.

Music in Action

Students have been enjoying a range of musical opportunities this term. Our "Green Boys" have been sharing their talents through Band Club, while students in Room 1407 have been developing their ukulele skills and growing in confidence as musicians.

Cyclone-Proof Creations

As part of a Design Lab project, students in Rooms 1404 and 1405 investigated how cyclones affect communities before designing and constructing their own cyclone-proof houses. Their creations were tested against a simulated cyclone, making for an engaging and hands-on learning experience.

From Caterpillars to Butterflies

Room 1305 has been fascinated by the life cycle of butterflies, carefully observing their caterpillars as they grew and changed. The excitement was contagious when the butterflies finally emerged, and students proudly named them Strawberry, Bluey, and Lillana.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Our students joined millions of children across Australia to read Luna Roo as part of National Simultaneous Storytime! Our Reception students in 1303 and 1304 created Luna Roo headbands, soccer goals and completed themed activities, having so much fun bringing the story to life while building creativity, teamwork, fine motor and literacy skills along the way.

Great to see many smiles, imagination and a shared love of reading across our classrooms.

Learning Through Creativity

Our Year 1/2 students have been busy bringing stories to life through creativity, teamwork and imagination! Students proudly created their own soccer goals and puppets inspired by the story, putting so much effort and enthusiasm into every detail. From designing and building to sharing their ideas with others, it was wonderful to see their excitement and creativity shine. We love seeing our students so engaged, confident and proud of their learning!
