Principal's Panorama

Miss Justine Goonan & Mr Joe Quinn

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we prepare for the final few days of school it is timely to take a moment to celebrate the successes we have had this year and in the final term. We give thanks for our staff in 2023 and we keep Miss Goonan in our prayers as she continues to move through this significant change in her family, leading into Christmas.

Prayers

We ask you to keep our LSO, Mrs Maryann Leonard in your prayers as she recovers from injuries to her arms and ribs.  Maryann will not return to work this term and we hope she has a full recovery to be ready to commence her role in 2024.

Swimming Program

We commenced the program today and it ran very smoothly.  Please ensure students are prepared tomorrow with a dry towel and swimmers, drink bottle and a wide brimmed school hat.  We will monitor the warm weather forecast for the remainder of the week and cancel lessons if it gets too hot.

Staffing 2024

Our staffing for 2024 is included in this newsletter and you will notice there is no change to our teaching list for next year. I will remain on staff in a Wellbeing Leader role two days per week and Misss Goonan will return as principal in a full time role.

The Wellbeing Role is a new role for schools, funded by the Victorian Education Department in conjunction with Melbourne University, to provide the Mental Health in Schools Program (MHiPS).  I will be supporting the school to implement appropriate wellbeing programs and support networks for the school to access in conjunction with local agencies. I will also be working with St Michael's, Tallangatta.

Mrs Marie Nagy will join our staff one day per week in a specialist arts role, while continuing to support us with relief teaching as required. Our strong Learning Support Officer team will remain in their respective roles.

Disco

We thank the P&F for organising the student Disco on Friday evening and thank Mr Barlee and staff for cooking the BBQ.  We know the students had a good time and thank you to those who were able to help with the clean up.  The P&F and School Advisory Council will have a thank you dinner/meeting at the Bottom Pub on Monday 18th December to discuss operational matters for 2024.

Capital Improvement Works

We are having some improvements made to the water and drainage arrangements for the Lacey Centre during the January break.  These works include increasing the capacity of the roof drainage, removal of the water tanks, installation of better drainage and ventilation systems under the building.

We are also replacing the footpath areas leading from the school to the Lacey Centre for safety reasons. Guttering and downpipes will also be replaced along the front of the main school building facing Hansen St.

Last Day of School- Friday 15th December

Our day will finish at the normal time of 3:10pm with the normal bus schedule.

We would love you to come to our final Mass in the church at 10:00am. The Year Six students will be taken out for lunch on Friday.

We wish you a safe and prayerful Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. The first day of school for 2024 is Wednesday 31st January.   We all look forward to seeing you in 2024!
