I guess this is an official welcome to Winter! The cold is here, hopefully it brings some much needed rain with it. Unfortunately, with it comes cold and flu season where we've been hit hard already. Please look after yourselves!!

Wandering around on yard duty each day I am loving seeing a huge game of tag happen across our school. Students from F-6 are busy chasing and tagging each other demonstrating our value of unity. It has been so wonderful to watch! For the others not playing I'm noticing imagination games, footy, soccer or digging in the sandpit. We're loving what we're seeing from our kids, keep it up everyone!!

Earlier this week I met with a VSBA (Victorian School Building Authority) assigned landscaper to discuss works around our playgrounds. Over the next little while you'll notice some new additions - bench seats (retaining walls - not too high!) surrounding both playgrounds. The shade sail should also be re-fitted very soon!

Kyneton High School - Returning Visit

Yesterday we had some previous NPS students return to have a session with our 2-6s about life at Kyneton High. They shared their experiences moving from primary to secondary school, what to expect, the challenges, the subjects and the special events that are happening. Our NPS students were engaged the entire time, asking fantastic questions to help gain an insight into what's to come. To finish the session, they got into small groups to go explore the school to "re-live the glory days". We had some VERY excited students who got to say hi to their previous Foundation-Grade 6 buddy! Such a fun session with plenty of great information shared.

Dress for the weather

Please be mindful of the cold weather when helping your child prepare their uniform for the day. We're noticing plenty without jumpers and jackets, please encourage wearing some warm layers! This really supports our sustainable practices by layering up, being warm and minimising the time spent of the heaters blasting. We have some second hand uniform available at the office for a gold coin donation, alternatively you can jump on Edu-Threads to look at the Winter range. Our Newham Beanies are available to purchase at the office for $20.

Fundraising

Watch this space for updates..... Due to some huge efforts in fundraising from our community, students have identified some things they'd love in our school. These are:

A stage (for dancing & playing)
Sport equipment (another set of AFL goals)
Robots (for coding)
Kitchen (for the cubby)

Parent Teacher Meetings

Watch this space for more information on parent teacher meetings later this term. This will give you some time to discuss your child's semester report, as well as any other questions or concerns you may have.

Assembly

We want to keep sharing the great things happening around our school. Assembly is a great chance for you to come and hear about these things, celebrate the kids achievements and have a bit of a chat to other families. Our next assembly will be Friday the 13th of June; ALL FAMILIES are welcome and encouraged to come.
