Catholic Schools Week

Next week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. This event provides a valuable opportunity to delve into the history and ongoing mission of Catholic education.

Here at St Joseph's School Barraba we have a rich history of Catholic Education going back to 1910 where the Sisters of St Joseph started our school.

Our first three principals from way back at the start of the last century are honored in the names of our current housing teams: Sr Imelda Gleeson, Sr Anastasia Hughes and Sr Magdalene Daly.  What an adventure it must have been for these women to come to Barraba in the early years!

We have had the amazing pleasure of seeing multiple generations of families come through our gates, choosing a Catholic education for their young people.

We have planned a few things throughout the week to celebrate our Catholic identity and the unique contributions of our school.

On Wednesday I will join Mrs Bearman, Fr Curran and our Year Six students in representing St Joseph's Barraba at the Catholic Schools mass in Armidale. We look forward to showing them around St Mary and St Joseph's cathedral and hope to meet Bishop Peter Murphy while we are there.
