A Word from the Principal 

Hello everyone and welcome to the last week of term 3!  

This year really does appear to be flying!

Thank you to PFA

Our wonderful PFA and our supportive school community work together to rais money for the school in a variety of activities, events and special days.  We are most appreciative of the funds made available to us to support our students and learning programs.  Our most recent purchases with fundraising money include new basketball backboards, rings and nets and a new stove in our kitchen.  THANK YOU!  That’s amazing and we are very lucky and excited to use our new items. 

The Father’s Day breakfast was also well attended and it was excellent to see so many of our dads and father figures at school.  Spending quality time with busy family members is a must and highly valued.  Our families, spoke, ate a delicious breakfast, made paper planes and built creations with Lego.  Many thanks to our wonderful PFA.  We hope that we can run this celebration again next year!

School Council – Casual Vacancy

We have had a casual vacancy become available for our school community on school council.  We would welcome new ideas and someone who would like to contribute to our amazing school.  If you are interested in filling that vacancy then please let the office know and we will be in contact with you. 

Footy Day

Just a reminder that on Friday we are getting into the Aussie Rules footy finals spirit by dressing in our teams’ favourite colours and everyone will participate in the annual footy colours parade. If students don’t support a team, then they are welcome to come in their soccer colours, netball colours or as an umpire.  We will all be singing the football theme songs so have a little practise at home!

Planning  for 2027

Preparations for 2027 are well underway and I continue to need your support so that the I can make the best decisions for the school. 

If you intend leaving Weeden Heights and your children will be starting at another school next year, can you please let me know, in writing, so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our calculations and budgets. Please do not leave it to the last minute to indicate your intentions as it does have a profound effect on the proposed budget.   Having accurate student enrolments is critical in establishing a sound  and balanced budget.

End of Term 3

The last day of term 3 is Friday 18 September and officially school will finish at 2.30pm.  We will all be in our footy colours.  Please remember that if you can’t pick your child up at 2.30pm then please book them in for OSHC in our hall. 

Parents are of course welcome to attend the assembly that will commence at 9.10am in the hall.    There will be several end of term special awards and presentations. 

Please take care, stay safe and enjoy your holiday break.  We will see everyone back at school on Monday 5 October.
