Dear Wollert Primary School Families,

Last week, Callum and I attended the Victorian State Principal Conference with leaders from across the state, focused on the theme "Leading Together for Excellence and Equity." The key themes for state education include student wellbeing, inclusion, instructional excellence, student voice, and building strong school communities. These resonate strongly with our current focus at Wollert Primary School on creating the best learning environment for all learners who attend.

Thank you to the staff who supported us in attending, and to Rebecca for her leadership at the school on that day. We are very lucky to have such educators at Wollert PS. I am grateful for the community I work in and how families support us in creating these learning environments through strong partnerships.

We are excited about the upcoming Athletics Day for our Year 4-6 students on Thursday, 25th June. More information will be shared on Compass. Due to enrolment numbers at the athletics venue, only Year 4-6 students will participate this time. We will organise an Athletics Day for Prep (Foundation) to Year 3 students at a later date.

Parent Teacher Interviews & Student Semester Reports- Working Together.

Parent Teacher interviews for our students are now open for bookings. The main focus of the interviews will be to discuss your child's report, current progress, and future learning objectives for next semester to ensure ongoing growth. I would also like to thank our Reporting Leaders, Claire and Luke, for their efforts in organising the interviews, as well as our Wellbeing Team, led by Aimee, who is supporting students with Student Support Group meetings—an essential aspect of Weeks 8 and 9 of this term.

These interviews will take place on Tuesday, June 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Students are only required to attend their interviews with their parents, guardians, or caregivers. Please note that a translation option will be available during the booking process to assist families. We look forward to celebrating each learner's growth.

On this day, our specialist teachers will be available to meet with families and discuss their programs. We will also be hosting an Art Show, and all families are invited to visit the art space and library to admire the remarkable artwork created by students at Wollert Primary School under the guidance of Betsie.

The semester reports will also be published on Compass on Friday, June 19, at 5:00 p.m. While the reports will continue to provide important details about student learning, please note that full descriptive comments may not be included due to the industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.

Foundation 2027 Enrolments: Do you have a child starting school in 2027?

We are now accepting enrolments. Hard copy enrolment forms can be found in the office; please see Jacinta for any support. We look forward to sending out enrolment letters to our 2027 Prep (Foundation) students in August and are eager to begin the transition period. If you are enrolling a sibling of a current student at our school, and both children will be attending simultaneously, your child will be prioritised for a place according to the department’s Placement Policy.

For more information, please visit vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep.

We are currently offering individual tours on Wednesdays for any 2027 Foundation students. We invite the child to join as it provides insight into our spaces and allows us to discuss our transition and learning programs at the school and what we can achieve together. We will continue to provide this support throughout the year and showcase what we have to offer our learners.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is "All In," a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. "All In" emphasises that reconciliation is not a spectator sport; we must all step away from the sidelines and take action to make a change.

This theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples isn’t solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried this weight for far too long. Reconciliation won’t happen by itself and will not occur without the active participation of everyone.

Please note that Family Time next Thursday will have a footy theme. Auskick will run a footy clinic for the school on Thursday, June 11th after school. Go Pies!
