Respecting Self and Others by Staying Healthy 💚

Staying Healthy. Students are learning that simple habits such as blowing their nose and coughing into their elbow, washing their hands and keeping themselves clean help stop germs spreading and show respect for those around them. This also includes not drawing on themselves or coming to school with fake tattoos, as we encourage students to take pride in their appearance and care for their bodies. Healthy habits help everyone learn, play and feel their best.

Giving Your Best in Eating Areas

Last week, our PBL focus was Giving Your Best in Eating Areas. Students are to sit and eat in the designated areas, talk quietly, stay seated until dismissed and place their rubbish in the bins. Thank you to our students for helping keep our eating areas calm, respectful and tidy.

Mobile Phones and Smart Devices

A reminder to families that all mobile phones and personal smart devices brought to school must be handed in at the office before the start of the school day. This is a Department of Education requirement implemented across Australian schools.

Students who bring a device to school and do not hand it in to the office will be managed in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe, focused learning environment where students can fully engage in their learning and friendships.

At Goondiwindi State School, there's always something happening! From House competitions and PBL rewards to special events and classroom activities, students don't want to miss out.

Our current attendance is 90.8%. We are aiming for 95%.

Every day counts, so let's work together to make sure every child is here, learning, connecting, and enjoying all that school has to offer.

House Competition

This week's House Competition is Bin It to Win It!

Students can earn valuable points for their house by helping keep our school clean and tidy. Every piece of rubbish placed in the correct bin helps your house move closer to victory. Remember, showing pride in our school environment is a great way to demonstrate our GREAT Expectations by giving your best, acting safely and working as a team.

Will Bishop, Campbell, Lucas or Watson take out this week's challenge? Make every piece of rubbish count and don't forget Bin It to Win It!

Congratulations, Bishop House!

A huge congratulations to Bishop House for taking out the Athletics Carnival championship. Thank you to all students for showing fantastic sportsmanship, teamwork and house spirit throughout the carnival. We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by every student who participated.

Student Council

Goondiwindi State School a place where everyone feels they belong. Student Council is also an important way for students to have a voice in decisions that affect our school.

Recently, every class was asked:

If our class could have one special event at school, what would it be?
What is one thing that makes our class happy at school?
If you were Principal for a day, what is one thing you would do?

The ideas have been creative, thoughtful, and lots of fun.

Watch this space as Student Council turns some of these student ideas into reality and adds even more ENJOYment to our school!

SPORT

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Sports Carnival!

It was wonderful to see such a great display of sportsmanship, with everyone giving their best effort throughout the day.

A special congratulations to Bishop House, our overall winners, and to Campbell House for receiving the Participation Award.

Well done to everyone involved and thank you to our parent helpers on the day.

A special mention goes to Blaize Smith-Lester, who broke the 9-year-olds high jump record with an impressive leap of 1.16m, and Matilda Zellers, who set a new 8-year-olds long jump record with a jump of 2.99m.

Well done to Archie S, Rocky and Archie K for participating in the DDSS Touch Football trials, and to Avery, RJ, Cameron, Riley and Hadley for taking part in the DDSS Soccer trials. We are proud of your effort and sportsmanship!

Playgroup (Age-Appropriate Play Based Activities)

Mrs Erica Clark and Mrs Donna Norman will be teaching Playgroup this term.

Wednesdays 9am to 10:30am. Follow the Red Flags at the Prep Precinct. Bring your GREAT Mates hat, morning tea and a water bottle (and a parent)!!
