This fortnight...

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a full and exciting fortnight it has been in the 5/6 building as we head toward the end of the year!

Last week, our students participated in our swimming program. Their enthusiasm, effort and excellent behaviour stood out each day. It was fantastic to see so many students challenging themselves, supporting one another and growing more confident in the water as the week went on. We'd like to add a special thank-you to Mr Smith for organising this program for us.

Tuesday we held our Step-Up Day, giving students the chance to spend time in their 2026 classes and begin building connections with their teachers and peers for next year. It was also a huge day for a majority of our Grade 6 students, who were out experiencing their Secondary College Transition Day, getting a feel for new routines, subjects and environments. They represented our school beautifully and embraced the opportunity with maturity and curiosity. I'd also like to thank those Grade 6's who had already completed their transition days, but came along anyway and supported our staff and students, including our brand new 2026 Preps- what a legendary community of kids we have here!

We also had a special visit today from players from the Essendon Football Club, who spoke to us about what it takes to reach your goals and provide a bit of excitement for Mr G and Mr Staley!

Tonight, of course, is the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony. This cohort has been an exceptional group of young people: kind, hardworking, resilient and supportive of each other. They have been leaders in our school community and wonderful role models for our younger students. As they prepare to take the next step into secondary school, we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and the people they are becoming. We wish each and every one of them the very best for their celebrations tonight and for the exciting journey ahead. We would also like to highlight and thank Emma C for the amazing effort and enthusiasm she has brought to coordinating tonight's event!

Warm regards,

5/6 Team
