Recurring notices
Mobile Phones Please do not use your mobile phone in front of the students. If you need to check your emails, sit aside from the students. Class time should be focussed on learning.
Yard duty Please ensure you always have the latest yard duty timetable visible in your classroom and that you are familiar with your duty expectations.
Yellow Vests and Bum BagsPlease wear your yellow vests and bum bags for PG duty. It is important that you are visible. If you do not have enough, please ask reception staff and they will give you additional vests.
Active supervision
Roam – move continuously through your allocated area
Build rapport with students- engage them with games
Anticipate behaviours before they escalate- read the Playground Support Document
Phones away, please – full attention on students at all times
All students must be supervised by a staff member at all times. If a student from your class is taking a movement break and you would like another staff member who is already outside to supervise, please ensure you communicate with them directly.
ALWAYS Check with staff prior to letting a student in an area such as the playground
Seesaw
Please remember to upload photos of students completing all the wonderful activities in the class. The minimum requirement is one photo per student per week. This is important in helping families see the wonderful learning and care you provide each day. Regular updates offer reassurance and help build strong, trusting relationships between families and staff.
AAC Devices
Please ensure your classroom AAC device is charged each day. One member of the classroom staff must take the AAC device with them while on yard duty. We will provide gentle reminders to staff to retrieve it, if it is accidentally left in the classroom.
We will continue to help and model this during check-ins, class visits to support you and increase your confidence on using AAC.
Emails
Please ensure you read your emails before students arrive and after students leave at a minimum to ensure you are up to date.

Welcome to week 5!
As we are in the thick of cold and flu season, we have understandably experienced an increase in staff absences across the sub-school.
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing flexibility, teamwork and willingness to support one another when staffing adjustments are required. Your support in moving between classrooms and adapting when needed helps us to maintain appropriate staffing ratios and, most importantly, ensure that our students continue to receive the support they need throughout the day.
I really appreciate everyone working together during this particularly busy time of year.
Please be aware that there are several students within the primary sub-school who have Behaviour Response Plans (BRPs) in place. These plans have been carefully developed in consultation with our Tier 3 Learning Specialists and outline the agreed strategies and responses for supporting each student.
Unless assistance is requested or there is an immediate safety concern, please allow the staff working with the student to follow the strategies outlined in the student's BRP. At times, additional adults stepping in, providing different instructions, or using alternative strategies can unintentionally increase a student's distress or make it more difficult for staff to consistently implement the agreed response.
A simple “Are you okay, or do you need any support?” is a great way to check in while allowing the staff member to continue following the student's plan.
Please ensure that when students are outside for amovement or regulation break, a staff member is outside actively supervising them at all times. Students should only be outside with staff supervision, even for short periods of time.
If providing supervision would leave your classroom without adequate support, please ask your buddy room for assistance or contact meso that we can arrange support.
