Dear Families,
CURRICULUM DAY
Staff thoroughly enjoyed their Professional Learning Day with Danny Hyndman on Monday. Danny was very impressed with how far along the staff were in the implemenation of the explicit teaching of spelling across the school.
NARRATIVE WRITING
Grade 2 students proudly shared their narrative writing pieces with me. I was very impressed with their use of punctuation, vocabulary and structure they used.
Meanwhile the Grade 3 / 4 class have been writing poetry.
PARENTS & FRIENDS
Today is the last day to get your pie order in . This can be done via Qkr! or by filling out the pie order form. Orders close at 5:00pm tonigh
PARENT/STUDENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 5. Appointment times will be available to book through XUNO from Monday 3rd August. We encourage all families to make a booking, as this is a great opportunity to celebrate your child's growth and achievements while discussing their learning and focus areas for the remainder of the year.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Our first meeting for the term will be held at 6.30pm on Monday night. For this first meeting we will combines finance and the normal meeting.
MOBILE PHONES
Toolamba Primary School understands that students may bring a personal mobile phone to school, particularly if they are travelling independently to and from school. For the purpose of this policy, “mobile phone” refers to mobile phones and any device that may connect to or have a similar functionality to a mobile phone such as smart watches.”
At Toolamba Primary School:
- Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours
- Exceptions to this policy may be applied if certain conditions are met (see below for further information)
- When emergencies occur, parents or carers should reach their child by calling the school’s office.
PREP BAGS 2027 DESIGN COMPETITION NOW OPEN
Parents and carers of 2026 Prep students
The Department of Education is inviting current Prep students at Victorian government schools to enter its Prep bags 2027 design competition.
This is an exciting opportunity for your child to showcase their creativity for a chance to see their design featured on the front of next year’s Prep bags. These will be given to thousands of students starting Prep at a Victorian government school next year.
How to take part:
Designs must reflect the theme – My year of Prep.
Submissions can be either hand drawn or digitally designed. It must be your child’s original work.
Drawings must be in black marker on white paper. Digital designs must be in black on a white background.
You can upload your child’s submission as either a JPEG or PNG file.
Entries close at 11:59 pm on Sunday 9 August 2026.

The department will judge all entries, with the winner announced later this year.

BOOK WEEK
On Monday, 24th August, we are celebrating Book Week with a combined 'Dress as Your Favourite Book Character' and 'Grandparent's (special person's)' Day. The plan is to begin the day at 9am with a parade, shared reading time with grandparents and/or special persons, following with a shared morning tea. The finer details of the morning will be confirmed closer to the day.
