100 days of Prep
Last week, our Prep students had a wonderful time celebrating their 100 Days of Prep!
The day was filled with exciting activities, all centred around the number 100. Students practised counting to 100, completed fun games using collections of 100 items, and used their imaginations to think about what they might be like when they are 100 years old, sharing plenty of creative and entertaining ideas!
It was a fantastic day of learning and celebration, marking an important milestone in our Prep journey.
One of the highlights of the day was searching the classroom to find 100 tiny ducks that had been hidden in all sorts of places.
Once all of the ducks had been discovered, students worked together to organise them into groups, exploring different ways to make counting large collections easier.
Maths
This week, students have been learning how to collect, record, and interpret data using tally marks through a variety of fun activities and games.
They have explored tallying favourite things and even counted Commonwealth Games medals to practise organising information.
One of the class favourites was investigating the question, "Do you like Vegemite?"
The children thoroughly enjoyed collecting and comparing the results while developing their early data skills.
Literacy
Students have been developing their writing skills by making text-to-self connections as they explored the topic of good choices and poor choices in the playground.
They have been practising turning their ideas into complete sentences, sharing their opinions, and reflecting on their own experiences.
Through these discussions and writing activities, students have been learning to explain how the choices we make can affect both ourselves and those around us, helping them build their understanding of respectful and responsible behaviour.
Integrated
Students have launched into their new Integrated Studies unit, Let's Investigate, where they are exploring space.
They have been learning about the planets, discovering what life is like for astronauts, and investigating what people would need to survive during a journey into space.
Students have been asking questions and sharing their ideas, making exciting discoveries about our solar system.
It has been wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they build their scientific knowledge and develop their observation and inquiry skills.
