GWR Senior Cricket Newsletter Report

What a fantastic day for our GWR Senior Cricket team!

In our opening match against Mount Clear College, we sent the opposition in to bat and delivered an outstanding bowling performance, dismissing them for just 69 runs in 10 overs. The highlight of the innings was an incredible hat-trick from Bodie Jubb — a superb achievement! Geordie Rollings Wurak was electric in the field, taking three sharp catches to keep the pressure firmly on.

Chasing 70 for victory, Zavier and Max produced a dominant unbeaten partnership, reaching the target in just 5 overs. Zavier was in sensational form, finishing on 48*, while Max supported brilliantly with 21* in a commanding team win.

Our second match was against Trinity College. Winning the toss, we chose to bat and posted a competitive total of 70 runs. Max led the scoring with an excellent 39, while Bodie showed great composure to hold his wicket after we lost a few early ones.

Trinity fielded a very senior side made up mostly of Year 12 students, and the match went right down to the final over. Although Trinity claimed the win, our team bowled exceptionally well and competed strongly throughout. The players demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and a positive attitude, representing themselves and our school with great pride.

A terrific effort across both matches — well done team!

Division Swimming

On Friday the 27th of February, Stevie, Bella and Gus attended the primary division swimming carnival held in Warrnambool at the Aquazone Pool. All three students represented Mortlake College in breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle. All three students raced well, and they should all be very proud of themselves for their accomplishments as we are of them here at Mortlake. Stevie has made it to regionals held in Horsham for breaststroke and we wish Stevie all the best, all of Mortlake College is cheering for you.
