Relay for Life Success

Last Friday our school community came together for a fantastic Relay for Life, raising almost $14,000 for cancer research and support services. The 12 hour event was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when students, staff and the wider community work together for an important cause.

Our student school leadersplayed a significant role in organising and running the event. Their teamwork, leadership and enthusiasm helped create a positive and energetic atmosphere throughout the day. Students and community members took turns in carrying the school baton which travelled over 50 km in the course of the event.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our generous sponsors, whose support helped make the event possible. Their contributions are greatly appreciated and played an important role in the success of the fundraiser.

Finally, thank you to the staff members who generously gave up their time to assist with planning, supervision and activities on the night. Their dedication ensured the event ran smoothly and safely.

It was inspiring to see our community unite in support of such an important cause, and we are incredibly proud of the effort shown by everyone involved.

Farmgate

One Wednesday 4th March, students from Years 8&9 participated in a one hour incursion to increase exposure and awareness of where food comes from, supply chains and promotion of the diversity of career opportunities in the horticulture sector. Students were also exposed to plant life cycles, sustainability, quality control, tasting activities and information about the types of job roles needed for the farm. This was a full sensory experience that links to curriculum in schools and promotes the enjoyment of eating fresh produce. Thanks to the Neil Porter Legacy for organising this event.

South West Careers Expo

Year 11 & 12 VCE students travelled to Warrnambool on Tuesday 3rd to visit the South West Careers Expo. This  provided students with an opportunity to explore and chat to a range of industry experts which with allow them to make informed choices in regards to their own pathway planning.
