Principal's Report

At Brunswick South-West Primary School, we acknowledge we learn, work and play on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
Welcome back to Term 2!
We have lots of exciting events planned this term including Education Week, Reconciliation Week, Chinese incursions and plenty of sport!
It was a pleasure to announce the Grade 3-6, 2026 Student Representative Council at Assembly. Our SRC play an important role in representing their peers. The SRC program helps to build leadership skills, develop advocacy, amplify student voice and provide input into our school programs. A big thank you to Chantel and Georgia for their coordination of the SRC program. The Prep–2 SRC will be announced in the coming weeks.
This term, we have introduced Principal Awards at Assembly to recognise consistent effort and growth in learning. At Friday’s assembly, we celebrated a number of students. Thank you to Anna C (5/6A) and Teacher Ben for taking photos.
Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply for the Camps, Sports and
Excursions (CSEF) funding of $400 per child. This money can be used to help cover the costs of camps, excursions, incursions and/or swimming. CSEF applications close on the 26th of June 2026, and forms are available from the office or can be downloaded here: https://www.vic.gov.au/camps-sports-and-excursions-fund
In this edition, you’ll also find our updated new lunchtime club timetable. We encourage you to speak with your child about the clubs they might be interested in joining. We are excited to introduce two new clubs this term: History Club with Rose Kircher and Climate Warriors led by Emilia (Grade 5/6) and supported by Jacinta.
We are currently updating our school calendar/website, and we hope to have all dates available in one place very soon. In the meantime, I’ve included key dates in this newsletter. Please note that Friday May 22 is a Professional Practice Day, and students are not required to attend school.
Don’t forget this Friday we will be hosting our Gratitude Stall, thank you to Catherine Pfabe and the team for organising this event.
