EarthEd Incursion 🤖

Today we had a visit from EarthEd. We had the chance to play with some Indi Robots. They were super cool! Students worked in small groups to provide instructions for the robots, in the form of coloured mats. Students were challenged to create pathways for their robot, and then they had to make their robot travel to the centre of the circle. 

Students loved problem solving, and trialling their pathways. 

Literacy 👦🍫🎫🏭

We are nearing the end of our mentor text, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students have finished their persuasive letters, and they're ready to be mailed to Mr Willy Wonka! 

We are now working on summarising main events from the story. Students have identified the difference between important details and less important details, and can select what information is required to retell a story so that it makes sense. It has been wonderful to see students utilise the newly leant vocabulary, and use this throughout their writing pieces. 

Numeracy 🔢➕➖🟰🎉

We have been consolidating our learning around addition and subtraction. Students have learnt some new strategies to add to their bank when working through number problems. There has been lots of growth, which has been so exciting for many students. Fluency has been another focus, and this has helped students to recall number facts with speed and accuracy.
