Champions in the Making: St Simon Past Student Selected to National Team
At St Simon's, we take great pride in celebrating the achievements of all our students, both during their time with us and as they continue to excel in high school and beyond.
We are thrilled to congratulate former St Simon student Aarya Shundravel on her selection to the Australian Under-15 National Hockey Team following her outstanding performances at this year's SSA National Hockey Championships.
This remarkable achievement is the latest milestone in Aarya's impressive hockey journey. She has captained both the Victorian State Team and the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Under-15 Team for the past two years, demonstrating exceptional leadership, skill and dedication.
Aarya's sporting success was encouraged during her time at St Simon, where she proudly represented Team Victoria in Year 6 and was honoured with the prestigious St Simon SSV Academic and Sporting Achievement Award in recognition of her excellence both on the sporting field and in the classroom.
Aarya's selection to the Australian Under-15 National Hockey Team is a testament to her hard work, determination and passion for the game. She is an inspiring role model for our current students, showing that commitment and perseverance can lead to extraordinary opportunities.
Congratulations, Aarya! The entire St Simon community is incredibly proud of your achievements and wishes you every success as you represent Australia on the international stage.
BASKETBALL TEAM VICTORIA SELECTION: Samia Dell'Aquila
At St Simon's, we are committed to helping every student achieve their personal best across all areas of the curriculum, with sport playing an important role in developing confidence, resilience and excellence. By nurturing each student's talents and strengths, we provide opportunities for them to reach their full potential and compete at the highest levels of school and representative sport.
We are delighted to congratulate Samia Dell'Aquila on her outstanding selection to the Team Victoria 12 Years and Under Girls Basketball Team. With this selection she will compete for our state of Victoria at the School Sport Australia National Championships.
Samia earned her place after successfully progressing through five highly competitive selection trials, standing out among more than 1,000 of Victoria's most talented young basketball players.
Samia is an exceptionally talented basketballer whose explosive athleticism, outstanding ball-handling, dynamic drives to the basket and exceptional vision as a passer sets her apart from others. Combined with her impressive basketball IQ, strong decision-making and commanding presence on the court, she is a formidable basketballer and a deserving representative of Victoria.
Representing Victoria at this level is a tremendous honour and reflects the countless hours of hard work and dedication Samia has invested in developing her game. Her achievement is a testament to our St Simon's community of what can be accomplished through perseverance and passion.
Congratulations, Samia! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and wish you every success as you represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia National Basketball Championships in October.
