Year 6 PYPX

Our Year 6 students have had another busy and engaging week of learning. We were fortunate to welcome Dr Andrew Prada from the Bureau of Meteorology, who shared his expertise on the fascinating topic of volcanic ash. Students learnt how scientists monitor volcanic eruptions and track ash clouds using satellites and discovered the significant impact volcanic ash can have on aircraft flight paths and aviation safety. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how science is used to solve real-world problems and protect communities around the world. The session sparked plenty of curiosity, with students asking thoughtful questions and making connections to our current inquiries.

Students have continued to make great progress as they delve deeper into their chosen issues. They have been unpacking the key concepts that underpin their investigations, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the causes, impacts and different perspectives surrounding their topics. Students have also begun planning meaningful action, considering how they can use their learning to make a positive difference. Whether through raising awareness, educating others, or creating solutions within our school or wider community, students are demonstrating initiative, creativity and a growing sense of responsibility as changemakers.
