From our Principal

Dear parents and carers,

With the wetter weather of late, it’s been pleasing to see students bringing a raincoat or umbrella to school-especially as we seem to experience the worst of the rain at drop-off and pick-up. 

Thank you to everyone for taking the extra care and time when it is wet. This means being extra mindful on the roads, at our school crossing and within the school grounds. It is timely to remind your child if they ride or scoot, they must walk their bike or scooter within the school grounds and across the school crossing.

Extension opportunities

Our High Abilities Leader, Caitlin Beer, has been sourcing extension avenues for students across the school. This week students in Years 3-6 participated in the Australian Mathematics Challenge. Last week, students in Years 3 & 4 travelled to Mentone Girls' Grammar to participate in their Maths Discovery Day. Next week, a group of Year Five students will begin a four week program at John Monash Science School and Year Six students will participate in a Maths Day at Keysborough Primary School on Friday.

Our second round of students participating in the English or Mathematics stream of the Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP) have commenced for this term. Thanks to each of these students for arriving prepared and actively engaging in their learning.

Congratulations to Megan Whebster, Braxton Moore and Jack Wemyss who completed the Primary English stream and William Nguyen, Chris Joo, Marcus Johnston, Joseph Hobson, Jules Dawson and Conor Butler who completed the Primary Maths stream in Term Two.

Courage to Care

It was a privilege on Tuesday morning to participate in the Courage to Care incursion with our Year Six students. Courage to Care’s Upstander Program educates and empowers students to recognise injustice and act in a safe and practical way with confidence. 

During the session students learnt how to identify stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and racism. They learnt the difference between bystanders and upstanders and heard the personal history of Holocaust survivors.

Thank you to the team from Courage to Care. Your generosity with your personal stories and inclusive facilitation were appreciated by all. Thank you to our Year Six students for your active participation, respect and kindness. This was appreciated by our visitors.

Year Five Camp

Thank you to everyone involved in our Year Five camp to The Ranch last week. I have enjoyed speaking with our students this week and hearing of their adventures mountain boarding, horse riding and on the giant swing. We appreciate the way our staff, parents & carers and the staff at The Ranch worked together to facilitate a wonderful opportunity for our students.

Curriculum Day Update

At our July School Council we passed our final curriculum day for 2026. This will take place on October 30th. We will use this day to review our improvement work and embed our instructional practice.

A reminder our final curriculum day for 2026 is December 7th.
